As a shy kid Gus learned to use his passion for art to garner affection and build relationships replicating pages from a disney art book to trade for snacks. In his teens he became obsessed with graffiti and hiphop culture and began experimenting with spray paint and letter structure for the first time. After some complications with the legal system Gus began moving towards character work and realism and learned to earn money the same way he had brownies and chips in elementary school. Now at 43, he has participated in several gallery exhibits, travelled the world painting walls, and run a successful commercial mural business for over 11 years, often collaborating with his partner Kathryn Crawford. Through his years painting commercial murals for a variety of businesses Gus has developed a variety of techniques allowing for a spectrum of subjects which he weaves into his letter based architectural structures and often limited palette to create his own unique abstractions.
