Whew! If you don’t see a post for some time, it’s cause I’m cooking. Just spent the last week inking and coloring the flyer for our December 29th show at The Grey Eagle in Asheville which you can see below. Over Thanksgiving week Foul Mouth Jerk came to town, and between working my day job, drinking heavily, playing a show, and eating turkey we managed to completely record our collaboration with DJ Eons which we have decided to call Scoff Law. Shit is real dope, 8 tracks all together with a feature from Philo. I am about to begin mixing the album in the next couple of days. Speaking of new albums, I am making some headway with this Brycon collaboration which I’ll be focusing on completing in the next few weeks featuring a ton of cameos by local SF rappers and friends, and of course The Worst album, my collaboration with Al Lover, is super dope and coming along nicely. Look out for The Worst album to be released by SXSW in March. On top of all this Fist Fam are completing the final recordings on Saturday for our next AND LAST album ever entitled “Weekend Cult” produced by Optik, Boac, and Cutty Bang. I feel this is our finest piece yet and a great note to gracefully bow out on. Look forward to lots of weird new solo projects and collabos from all of us at Fist Family. Album release for “Weekend Cult” and going away party at the end of Febraury in SF at Elbo Room. Going away you say? Yeah, other big news. Both Philo and I have decided to make the move back home to the moonshine mountains of NC which continue to hold our hearts. I have a lot of great things planned upon my arrival so don’t think this means a lack of progression or work, quite the opposite. So there you have it, hella stuff and things. In the next couple of months I’m gonna have a lot of free music so watch out. Oh yeah and speaking of free music, here is a song Jay Eazy and I got drunk on e night and made over a Fatees beat, enjoy.

Ground Control

Looking over my online sales for the last few years I was surprised to find that one of my personal favorite songs was also one of the most listened to / downloaded. Ground Control has been, since created, one of the most creative songs of my career. It is not only one of my first solo songs but also one of my first beats produced on my own. Long days clouded by weed musk in the dark studio gave birth to my first album. Originally on Year of the Sweat Hoof then later The Lobster Man, Ground Control is a strange tale of shrooming gone wrong. The sample is from one of my favorite Blonde Redhead songs and, since I had no idea what I was doing, ended up chopped with a strange swing. I included sound effects from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to aid the adventure and a screwed up hook. The reason I found it strange that it seemed so popular (predominately over-seas) was that it was never really well recieved by those in my inner circle. I even attempted to perform it a couple of times to which the audience stared strangely as if I were melting on stage. Anyway, neither of the albums this song was featured on are available anymore so I figured I better post it as a free download. I chopped up one of my favorite B-movies, Street Trash, for a visual representation of how it can feel to melt on shrooms. Hope you enjoy. Drop me a comment and let me know what you think.

Bus Driver

I made this supremely brief mini song not long ago over a beat I received from my good friend Sean Julian, the producer of SF State of Mind. It’s pretty self explanatory so I won’t get too deep into it but I will say that it is a day in the life of one of the many San Francisco residents who have the poor luck of having to spend hours each day in the municipal public transportion system, an ode to the average man. I hope you enjoy my little tale. And for the record, I am aware that the sample says Truck Driver not Bus Driver, but I don’t care, we liked it better like this. Newish Videos, Updates, Excuses and more

So yeah, been out the wordpress game for a while, but luckily for you it’s because I’ve been hella busy. My group Fist Fam have been promoting our newest album “Posted” with a slew of shows, press, and videos. Two of which said videos, previously not posted on this blog, can be found below. “SF Bay” was directed by our French rellies Kub & Cristo, and “Civilized Freakshow” was created by yours truly. I also have been writing like a psycho for a slew of new projects. First off, while on the subject of Fist Fam, we have a new album the “Panama Jack” EP which will be available for free download within the next couple of weeks. After that, Fist Fam has an entire LP recorded and in the mixdown stage which will lay ground for our brand new album we have been recording as of late produced by Cutty Bang, Optik One, and Boac. Besides all of that I have taken on a few solo projects. Where to start? OK, my rellie Foul Mouth Jerk and I have begun writing for a 7 song EP produced entirely by DJ Eons of Grand Invincible fame. Jerk is one of my oldest and closest friends so this project is way past due and so far it is sounding great. I am also working on an album with Al Lover who produced “Posted” and my double single “Part of the Game / All Mine” and has been gaining a lot of attention through his great instrumental releases the past couple of years. We like to call ourselves “The Worst” and are creating a project sampling contemporary garage and psych artists. I recorded the first song for this project last week called “Inebriology”. Expect super griminess, reverb, and distortion from this one. I have also begun work on a project with Brycon the concept of which is to provide myself the opportunity to create music with the artists who surround me in the Bay who I know but have had no chance to feature on projects. The first two songs “Keep Digging” and “Thief in the Night” are recorded, and more to come. Besides that, I received some great beats from Commissioner Gordon yesterday, who produced “SF Bay” so we’ll see where that leads and I have been recording for a slew of cameos on others albums including Grand Invincibles “Gurple Tape” project, Sequenced Mindset’s new album, a track with Youngin Go Hard, and two songs for Gurp City Canada. So yeah, I’ve been busy. Easy to say but, stay tuned and Ima have a gang of new music and updates ahead. I love yall, thank you for your continued support. Being an independent musician is not easy, we depend almost exclusively on our fans to spread the gospel and for that I thank you and promise not to disappoint.

Here it is yall, my new double single produced by Al Lover using local garage records. “All Mine” is a liquor drenched love story outlining the perils of trust over a grimey beat sampling Ty Segall’s newest record “Melted”. While “Part of the Game” uses word association to paint a picture of the drug world inside of America over a sample from Thee Oh Sees newest album “Warm Slime”. Al Lover and I are both huge fans of both of these bands and in a great twist of fate Al found himself in the position to ask permission for use of these two samples for which he was granted. I like to imagine it was something like the Weird Al mockumentary when he went to Michael Jackson’s house to ask for his blessings on Eat It, know what I mean? Anyway, I had a great time making these songs which are the second ina series of free releases leading up to the new Fist Fam record “Posted” being released. Take the time to look up the aforementioned records and you’ll understand the haunting images on the cover I created. Anyway, enjoy the music and don’t forget to share with your loved ones.

Alright! Here is the new single by Fist Fam “S.F. Bay” produced by the old NC relative Commisioner Gordon. This one stars Ronny Mac and myself painting a laid back view of our second home. This is the first of three free downloads being released by Fist Fam leading up to The release of our new album “Posted” entirely produced by Al Lover. The next release is the Double Single by Al Lover & yours truly featuring the songs “Part of the Game” and “All Mine”. Keep checking back, this is gonna be a fun year.

Alright then, here it is, Sour Baby Leak #2 once again produced by Micah Aza for Hardwork Productions. This has been the coldest and dreariest summer I have spent in San Francisco over the four years I have been here. Cold, dreary, and for those like me, infinitely inspirational. I wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered, and created a cover and video for this leak in under 3 hours. And so, this is what you get for those three, enjoy, and remember, word of mouth is my best friend. Thank you.
